Senior Staff AccountantManhattan, NYC On-site Vaco $USD 40 - 43 C2hClient: RetailContract to HirePayrate: $38/hr -$43/hrOnsite 4 days a week, Remote 1 day a weekPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Staff/Mid-Level Accountant to support the Corporate Accounting team. This position will play a key role in the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger activities, and day-to-day accounting operations.The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. This position is based in New York City, NY and will report to the Corporate Accounting Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform accounting functions including booking, reconciling, and reporting financial activity.Support the month-end close process and ensure assigned closing and reporting deadlines are met.Prepare and analyze journal entries related to leases, payroll, reserves, prepaids, deposits, and other areas of accounting.Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and perform account fluctuation/flux analysis.Monitor and review accounting and system-generated reports for accuracy and completeness.Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related footnotes for quarterly and annual reporting.Collaborate with FP&A, Payroll, and other departments to reconcile actual results with budgets and forecasts.Partner with external audit teams and assist with the coordination and administration of external audits.Maintain organized, accurate, and complete accounting records, both electronically and in hard copy as needed.Provide backup support for month-end responsibilities assigned to other members of the accounting team.Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes and workflows.Document accounting policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility.Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with colleagues and cross-functional partners.Mentor and train interns and junior team members as needed.Support additional accounting projects and ad hoc requests as assigned.Qualifications3–5 years of practical accounting experience.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Experience with month-end close processes and journal entry preparation.Strong understanding of accounting principles, controls, and financial reporting.Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze, manipulate, and reconcile large volumes of data from multiple sources.Ability to create ad hoc reports and perform financial analysis.Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with SAP and BPC is a plus.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.Demonstrated ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.By submitting to this position, you are agreeing to be included in our talent pool for future hiring for similarly qualified positions.
