Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established practices and procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients to foster a comfortable and trusting environment.
• Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signatures post-venipuncture, to ensure proper labeling and identification.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing.
• Create a safe, professional, and positive environment for patients and staff.
• Perform specimen collection and processing duties with confidence, following all safety and procedural standards.
• Travel between multiple locations as needed, including Patient Service Centers and in-office collection sites, with minimal notice.
• Support process excellence and confidentiality, demonstrating leadership behaviors in daily activities.

Required Skills

• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to explain procedures clearly and build rapport with patients.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Basic keyboard and data entry proficiency for accurate record keeping.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, required.
• Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is highly preferred.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and a clean driving record if travel is involved.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate openly with patients and team members.
