Business Officer I University of Alabama at Birmingham Acts as business and/or operations officer for a small to mid-size division, department or sub‑division, operating under minimal supervision. Responsibilities may encompass financial, administrative, personnel, space and database management. Coordinates implementation of policies and procedures for the assigned areas of responsibility. Serves as financial/budget/grants management officer for the assigned unit. Directs administrative operations and supervises support staff. May solicit funds and perform special projects as needed. Responsibilities Financial Budget Management: serves as the primary officer for managing and reconciling division accounts, including state, grant, foundation, and clinical revenue accounts; monitors expenditures, prepares financial reports, and provides projections. Grant and contract administration: assists with grant submissions, manages departmental contracts, ensures compliance with sponsor and university regulations, and requires a firm understanding of budget capacity and departmental priorities. Collaboration with faculty, staff and students to process various payments and reimbursements. Works closely with department chair, administrators, program directors and center directors executing departmental initiatives and special projects (Accreditation/Certification processes, continuing education seminars, national symposiums, case competitions). Manages budgets and oversees all expenses for special projects such as the MSHA case competition, involving budgets, expenses and contracts from UAB Health System, national organizations (AUPHA, HLAA, CAHME). Collaborates with the IFSIS Team on International Faculty Staff Immigration Services, including handling students and faculty H‑1B forms. Conducts departmental space surveys, coordinates office moves, and arranges office and equipment setup for new departmental faculty members. Performs other duties as assigned. Salary Range: $52,555–$85,400 Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one (3) year of related experience required. Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement.
