Program Director, Physician Assistant Program

Position Overview The Program Director of the new Physician Assistant (PA) program at North Carolina A&T State University leads the organization, management, fiscal oversight, continuous review and analysis, and strategic implementation of the Physician Assistant Program. The Director ensures compliance with accreditation standards established by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA), oversees development of clinical sites, supervises faculty and program staff, coordinates program assessment, maintains ARC‑PA accreditation, and works with Admissions, Marketing, and Communications to recruit students. The position reports to the Dean of the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences. Primary Responsibilities The Director will manage program organization, fiscal management, continuous programmatic review, and program development. Responsibilities include maintaining accreditation, ensuring curriculum aligns with ARC‑PA standards, overseeing clinical site development, supervising faculty and staff, coordinating assessment, and nurturing student recruitment efforts. Minimum Requirements Master’s degree or higher in physician assistant studies or a related field. Must hold current or emeritus National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and be eligible for a physician assistant license in North Carolina. Must have at least three years of full‑time higher‑education experience at the time of appointment and three years of health‑care experience. Commitment to inclusive education and the development of cultural competencies in graduate students with a lens toward social justice education. Experience with accreditation processes. Experience with efficient and responsive personnel issue handling. Knowledgeable about program director responsibilities required by ARC‑PA and the demands of maintaining ARC‑PA accreditation. Must be knowledgeable about and responsible for program organization, program administration, fiscal management, continuous programmatic review and analysis, program planning, program development, completion of ARC‑PA required documents, and adherence to ARC‑PA policies. A team‑oriented, collaborative decision maker with effective communication and problem‑solving skills. Preferred Qualifications A doctoral degree in health, education, or administrative discipline. Experience in curriculum development, evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising. Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds. Commitment to a team‑oriented, student‑centric environment. Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Required License or Certification Current or emeritus NCCPA certification and eligibility for a physician assistant license in North Carolina.
