This position can be located in San Diego, CA or Melbourne, FL.The selected engineer will lead an interdisciplinary team on key efforts to develop novel Electronic Warfare subsystems on developmental NGAS programs. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of HW/SW subsystems, including developing functional architectures, analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements. You will lead a team to design, develop, build, and test EW components, equipment, systems, and networks in conjunction with key suppliers.Will be responsible for one or more of the following:Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration, and test supportLead and support technical discussions with the customer and having daily interaction with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub teamsGuiding the team through development/implementation activities.Requirements development, analysis, maturation, and implementation, translating customer requirements into hardware and software specificationsPerforming risk analysis, developing mitigation plans, and tracking to closureCollaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate avionics and mission subsystems to meet platform mission objectivesDevelop supplier documentation such as procurement specifications, and statements of work, and review artifacts from the supplier’s development effortDocument designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specificationsSupport development and integration of HW/SW subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectivesDevelop integrated HW/SW integration and test approaches across NGAS programs.Performing functional and performance analysesConducting detailed trade studiesPerform analyses and estimate performance of components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and commercial standards.Configure, test, document and troubleshoot avionics and mission systemsBasic Qualifications:Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in EngineeringKnowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)Experience with Electronic Warfare, Electronic Support, and multifunction subsystemsExperience in RF/EW applications, including developing and applying models in Matlab, Python, and/or C/C++, along with experience in tracking and algorithm development.Familiarity with 1 or more RF sensing modalities and their applications.Experience in decomposing, deriving, allocating and tracing requirements from system to component levelExperience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of workExperience in supplier/subcontract managementExperience with working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposalsExperience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing RF equipment for airborne platformsKnowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentationAn active U.S. Government issued Top Secret SCI Security Clearance as well as Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needsPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skillsDemonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed mannerExperience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing EW or Radar subsystems for airborne platformsExperience with RF antenna and component design and performance analysisDemonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environmentExperience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML toolsExperience with generating and managing requirements in DOORsExperience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar toolsFamiliarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)Experience in supplier/subcontract managementExperience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of workUnderstand NGAS Sector Engineering proceduresExperience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selectionPrimary Level Salary Range: $168,200.00 - $292,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
