Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing Job Locations: US-NJ-Paramus | US Overview The Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for leading enterprise-wide sourcing, supplier management, and procurement initiatives across R&D, Supply Chain, Commercial, and G&A functions. This role serves as a strategic business partner to internal stakeholders and is expected to independently manage complex sourcing activities, negotiate commercial agreements and Statements of Work (SOWs), drive category strategy development, and optimize supplier performance. The role requires strong experience supporting biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations, with particular expertise in R&D operations and/or IT sourcing. The Senior Manager will also support procurement analytics, financial planning activities, and regulatory/compliance-related reporting requirements, including small business reporting where applicable. This position operates with a moderate-to-high level of independence while collaborating closely with Legal, Finance, Clinical Operations, IT, Commercial, and external suppliers. Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Category Management Develop and execute category strategies across key spend areas including R&D, IT, Commercial, and Corporate Services. Maintain supplier landscapes and market intelligence for critical categories to support informed sourcing decisions. Identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier consolidation, process improvement, and risk mitigation. Lead strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with organizational priorities and growth objectives. Partner with business stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with operational and financial goals. Supplier Relationship Management Manage strategic supplier relationships and serve as a primary escalation point for supplier performance issues. Establish supplier governance frameworks, KPIs, business reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, compliance posture, and overall business fit. Support supplier performance management, and risk assessments. Contracting & Negotiations Partner with Legal and business stakeholders to ensure contracts align with company policies and risk tolerances. Guide stakeholders through contract scoping, commercial benchmarking, and supplier selection processes. Procurement Operations Facilitate and manage critical and strategic RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, bid analyses, and supplier selection activities for strategic services. Support procurement operations through reporting, analytics, purchasing insights, and spend tracking. Support supplier diversity and small business reporting initiatives where applicable. Contribute to procurement policy and process improvements. Qualifications A minimum of a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) is required. 5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries. Demonstrated experience supporting R&D and/or IT sourcing categories strongly preferred. Experience leading competitive sourcing events and supplier evaluations. Familiarity with procurement systems, purchasing analytics, and supplier management processes. Work is typically performed in an office.
