General Manager - Life Science

CBRE has an immediate need for a Life Science General Manager position at HELIX in New Brunswick, NJ! CBRE will assist with relocation costs to viable candidates outside of New Brunswick, NJ! About The Role As a CBRE General Manager, you will supervise the team responsible for all operational and financial activities of large portfolios of properties. For this portfolio, the focus will be on Life Science. This job is part of the Property Management job function. You will operate Life Science buildings on behalf of a client or group. The role is onsite in New Brunswick, NJ, USA. This is a brand new, state‑of‑the‑art Life Sciences building in the heart of New Jersey. Candidates with medical/lab/life science building management experience are preferred. What You’ll Do Respond to high profile tenant needs and issues. Act as primary contact with property owners, serving as owner representative to ensure objectives are met and deliver accurate reports. Develop and control annual budgets for large operating and capital expenses. Forecast complex management plans and prepare monthly performance reports, explaining variances. Provide formal supervision to employees, monitor training and development, conduct performance evaluations and coaching, and oversee recruiting and hiring. Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, establish work schedules, assign tasks, cross‑train staff, and track deadlines. Help create advanced programs that assist the property with emergency recoveries. Prepare and approve all required legal notices and recommend and coordinate legal action as necessary. Review tenant rent and common area maintenance recovery charges to ensure timely payment. Other tasks as needed and/or assigned. What You’ll Need Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5‑8 years of relevant commercial experience. Life Science/medical/lab management experience is highly preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Active NJ real estate license is required. Ability to lead exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems. Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on career discipline, multiple disciplines, and department. In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Extensive organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset. Compensation & Benefits The minimum salary for the General Manager is $120,000 annually and the maximum salary is $135,000 annually. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
