Payroll Coordinator LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Payroll Coordinator with at least 3 years of experience working in a similar role. This is a Temp to Perm opportunity, located in Medford, NY. Responsibilities:
- Manage weekly payroll for a smaller entity and oversee high-volume biweekly payroll for over 400 employees, ensuring accuracy and timely processing in a fast-paced, growing environment
- Handle off-cycle payrolls as needed, including bonuses and retroactive adjustments
- Stay up to date on federal and New York State payroll regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
- Maintain employee data within the HRIS, including onboarding new hires, updating accruals, and processing payroll-impacting changes
- Review and audit timesheets to confirm accuracy, proper scheduling, PTO usage, and compliance with overtime guidelines
- Partner closely with Finance to align payroll data with general ledger coding and funding allocations
- Coordinate with HR regarding employment changes such as transfers, status updates, and terminations
- Prepare and maintain required wage notices in accordance with regulations
- Monitor and audit employee accrual balances to ensure correct calculations and policy adherence
- Manage user access and permissions within timekeeping and attendance systems
- Oversee timeclock functionality, ID badges, and employee enrollments; troubleshoot system issues in collaboration with vendors and IT
- Set up and maintain earnings codes, garnishments, tax elections, and benefit deductions for employees
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and increase system efficiency as the organization scales
- Calculate and prepare quarterly third-party sick pay and Paid Family Leave contributions
- Process retirement plan contributions and loan repayments on a recurring basis, including 403(b) and 401(a) plans
- Respond to employee inquiries related to pay, deductions, and payroll policies in a timely manner
- Minimum 3-5 years of Payroll experience
