Staff Accountant

Job Description RJ Smith Companies Staff Accountant Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. This role will support accounting operations across multiple entities and industries, providing accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Responsibilities: Perform daily accounting activities, including preparing journal entries and recording intercompany transactions across multiple entities. Review and reconcile bank accounts, line of credit, and daily financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness. Analyze trial balances, balance sheets, and income statements to support accurate financial reporting. Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies. Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank accounts, line of credit, fixed assets, loans, revenue, expenses, and intercompany balances. Conduct variance analysis, investigate discrepancies, and provide explanations for fluctuations. Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial reports, reporting packages, and supporting schedules. Gather financial data and prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested. Support audit and tax preparation processes by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation. Assist with special projects as needed. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. 2–3 years of experience working with GAAP accounting principles. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes. Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines and priorities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
