Academic General Cardiologist / Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Specialist Portland VA Medical Center Academic Appointment at Oregon Health & Science University The Division of Cardiology at the VA Portland Health Care System is seeking an outstanding Academic General Cardiologist with expertise in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging to join a highly collaborative and mission‑driven cardiovascular program in Portland. Faculty work closely with medical students, internal medicine residents, and cardiology fellows from Oregon Health & Science University in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in: Bedside and clinical teaching Fellowship and resident mentorship Didactic education Development of educational curricula Teaching within imaging and general cardiology Clinician‑educator faculty are encouraged to pursue leadership roles in educational and clinical programs, while clinician‑researchers are supported in developing productive academic research programs. Qualifications Qualified candidates should: Be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease Have completed an accredited cardiology fellowship Be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure Demonstrate strong clinical and interpersonal skills Have expertise or advanced training in cardiovascular imaging Certification or eligibility in Echocardiography is strongly preferred. Additional information A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be offered. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year, and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
