Boozehounds is Palm Springs’ dog-friendly, Michelin recommended hotspot — and we’re gearing up for our biggest, busiest season ever. We’re looking for talented Line Cooks to join our pack. We are looking for part time and full time, and both AM and PM shifts. This is a great opportunity for more seasoned Cooks as there is potential for leadership growth.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
• Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow colleagues
• Responsible for preparing their station before the start of each service
• Execute opening prep and set up the kitchen line for the day so all stations are ready for service
• Ensure all needed supplies for the shift are available, ready for use, pre-prepared, cleaned and stocked per the chef’s standards
• Responsible for food prep, including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces
• Prepare the items requested from their station and work with other cooks to ensure that food is ready at the right time, in the right order, per the Chef’s standards
• Manage their station, setting up pars, maintaining quality control, keeping track of all food, and taking responsibility for all products on their station
• Inform the chef when any low par stock or orders need to be made
• Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards
• Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques
• Store food properly and safely, marking the date and item
• Clean their station and assist other cooks to clean their stations, including disposing of garbage, cleaning utensils, pots, and pans, cooking surfaces, fryers and ovens
• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout
• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions
• Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum two years kitchen experience required.
• Must hold or obtain a valid California Food Handler card within 30 days of hire.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as e-mail communication, instant message communications, legal documents, license agreements, contracts, invoices, news articles, technical manuals, budgets, ledgers, purchase orders, financial, marketing, Inventory, shipping, and various reports. Ability to effectively present information, provide instructions and thoroughly answer questions in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.

Reasoning Ability and Computer Skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to efficiently use inventory, ordering & computer systems or applications and Microsoft Office programs.
