Civil Engineering Internship – Summer 2026

Locations: South Bend, IN or Fort Wayne, IN

Jones Petrie Rafinski (JPR) is a dynamic provider of Architecture & Engineering (A&E) services with projects mainly in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. As a multi-disciplined firm, we offer our professionals a broad variety of challenging assignments, giving you the chance to explore different areas of civil engineering and discover where you thrive.

The Opportunity

We're looking for motivated Civil Engineering Interns to join our team for Summer 2026! This is a hands-on learning opportunity where you'll gain exposure to several disciplines, including:

Water Resources
Structural Engineering
Transportation
Industrial/Commercial & Creative Site Design

You'll work side by side with experienced engineers and designers, contributing to real projects and learning how your classroom knowledge translates into practical solutions.

What You'll Do

Assist project teams with design tasks and project deliverables
Perform basic analyses, calculations, and modeling using industry-standard software
Prepare sketches, diagrams, and technical reports
Review and check detailed drawings and layouts
Collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines in a team-oriented environment

What We're Looking For

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior preferred; Freshmen considered)
Basic knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to learn, ask questions, and contribute in a team setting
Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines
