Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | St. Johns, MI

Salary Range: $60,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in St. Johns that are seeking skilled Environmental Health & Safety Specialists. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures.
• Provide EHS training to employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
• Manage hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and disposal.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
• Lead emergency response efforts and conduct drills to ensure preparedness.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 3-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Proven ability to conduct EHS training, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 management systems
• Proficiency in data analysis and EHS software platforms
• Demonstrated ability to lead and conduct EHS training programs
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
