Permit Coordinator

I am supporting a growing utility and infrastructure contractor is looking to add an experienced Permit Coordinator to its team in the DC/Maryland/Virginia market. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in utility construction, heavy civil, or infrastructure permitting who wants to play a key role in keeping projects moving. In this role, you will take ownership of the permit submission, tracking, renewal, and approval process for utility construction projects. You'll work closely with Project Managers, scheduling teams, clients, and local permitting agencies to ensure projects have the necessary approvals in place and remain on schedule. You'll review civil site drawings, develop Traffic Control Plans, and coordinate permitting requirements across the DC/MD/VA region. A strong understanding of DDOT permitting processes, MUTCD guidelines, and temporary traffic control standards will be highly valuable. You'll also manage applications through the review process, respond to agency comments, make revisions where required, and build strong working relationships with permitting agencies to help facilitate timely approvals. The position will also involve attending client meetings, supporting project teams with permit-related issues, and assisting with cost estimates for permitting work included in proposals. What We're Looking For 3+ years of experience managing construction permits; 5+ years preferred Experience within utility construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, or similar environments Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications Experience navigating DDOT permitting processes strongly preferred Knowledge of MUTCD guidelines and Washington, DC temporary traffic control standards Understanding of construction scheduling practices Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex information Excellent communication skills when working with project teams, clients, and government agencies Ability to manage multiple deadlines and keep permitting activities on track Familiarity with Excel, Word, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred Why Consider It?
