Director of Leadership Development & Employee Relations Franklin County Schools Central Office - Louisburg, North Carolina Job ID: 5742170 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 27, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description The Director of Leadership Development & Employee Relations supports district leadership development, professional growth, employee relations, and talent pipeline initiatives for classified and certified staff. This position develops leadership pathways, coordinates professional development opportunities, supports employee growth and retention efforts, and assists school and district leaders with employee relations matters. The Director works under the direction of the Executive Director of Human Resources to strengthen leadership capacity, support positive workplace relationships, and promote continuous professional growth across the district. Leadership Development & Talent Pipeline Develop, coordinate, and support leadership development pathways for classified and certified employees. Support employee growth pathways including Instructional Assistant to Teacher, Teacher to Instructional Coach, Instructional Coach to Assistant Principal, and Assistant Principal to Central Office leadership opportunities. Collaborate with district leaders and school administrators to identify and support emerging leaders across the district. Assist with succession planning and leadership pipeline initiatives designed to grow and retain high‑quality employees and leaders. Support mentoring, coaching, beginning teacher development, and leadership development opportunities for district and school-based staff. Professional Development Coordination Coordinate and support district professional development initiatives aligned with district priorities and employee growth needs. Plan, organize, facilitate, and evaluate professional development opportunities for classified and certified staff. Monitor continuing education units (CEUs), professional development participation, and related documentation as required. Collaborate with departments and schools to support ongoing professional learning opportunities and leadership development initiatives. Develop and deliver professional development sessions, leadership training, and employee support workshops as needed. Employee Relations Support Support principals and district leaders with employee relations matters, including guidance related to workplace concerns, communication, documentation, initial fact‑finding, and workplace improvement strategies. Assist school administrators with gathering information and conducting initial fact‑finding related to employee concerns and workplace matters. Collaborate with the Executive Director of Human Resources regarding employee relations recommendations, support plans, workplace improvement strategies, and personnel‑related next steps. Support efforts that promote positive workplace culture, employee engagement, professionalism, and effective communication across the district. Policy & Compliance Support Support the development, review, implementation, and management of Board policies, administrative procedures, and employee guidance documents. Collaborate with district leaders and Human Resources to ensure policies and procedures are communicated effectively and implemented consistently across the district. Assist with monitoring policy‑related practices and supporting district compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Board policies, and administrative procedures. Coaching & Leadership Support Provide coaching and support to school and district leaders related to leadership practices, professional growth, communication, documentation, and employee support strategies. Conduct regular follow‑up with school and district leaders regarding leadership development and employee support initiatives. Assist with identifying opportunities to strengthen leadership capacity, employee support systems, and professional growth opportunities across the district. Strategic District Support Collaborate with Human Resources and district leadership to support district goals related to employee development, retention, leadership growth, and workplace culture. Support district efforts related to employee retention, leadership sustainability, and professional growth. Maintain records, professional development data, leadership pipeline information, and related documentation. Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and legal considerations related to leadership development, professional learning, and employee relations. Minimum Requirements Education: • Master’s degree in School Administration required. Licenses/Certifications: • Valid North Carolina Administrator License required. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a principal, district administrator, or central office leader. Experience facilitating professional development and leadership training. Experience supporting adult learners and leadership development initiatives. Knowledge of employee relations practices, leadership coaching, and professional learning systems. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with district leaders, school administrators, and staff. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative duties. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to travel between schools, district locations, and professional development sites as needed. Manual dexterity to use computers and other standard office equipment. Working Conditions Typical work hours follow a standard administrative schedule but may occasionally require evening or weekend work to attend district events, professional development activities, meetings, or employee support initiatives. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and administrative procedures.
