Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

• Obtain and record initial assessment and establish priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement a measurable individualized plan of care within the established time frame.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
• Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Delegate unit work assignments to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.
• Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating a professional, supportive attitude for unit staff.
• Collaborate with others to achieve unit and organizational goals.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• BLS Certification from AHA required.
• ACLS Certification from AHA required.
• PALS Certification from AHA required.
• TNCC Certification required.
• CPI or equivalent preferred.
