Memory Care Activity's Assistant
Join Serene Gardens of Clarkston as a Memory Care Activity's Assistant, where you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents living with memory impairments. You will work closely with our care team to create and facilitate engaging, meaningful activities tailored to the unique needs of each resident, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead recreational activities designed to stimulate cognitive function and promote social interaction among residents with memory challenges.
- Assist residents in participating in daily activities, providing encouragement and support as needed.
- Monitor and document resident participation and responses to activities, communicating observations to the care team.
- Maintain a safe and clean activity environment, ensuring all materials and equipment are well organized and sanitized.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to customize activities according to resident interests, abilities, and care plans.
- Develop positive relationships with residents, families, and staff to promote resident well-being and satisfaction.
- Help care staff with meal times with feeding residents.
- Any other tasks that you are asked to complete
Requirements
- Previous experience in memory care, assisted living, or a related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Ability to engage and motivate residents with varying levels of cognitive function.
- Basic knowledge of memory care challenges and therapeutic activity techniques is a plus.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
