Attendance Clerk

Student Attendance MonitorMonitors attendance of students. Minimum requirements include experience in an educational setting or in an office or with attendance procedures, knowledge of computers, ability to use an automated attendance tracking system, basic math skills, verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions. Any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education is also acceptable. Ability to obtain an AZ DPS Level one Fingerprint Card is required.Preferred qualifications include good organizational skills and strong people skills.Essential functions include reviewing and verifying students' absence notes, receiving incoming phone calls from school staff regarding student absences, making home visits to investigate causes for students' attendance problems, advising parents of attendance policies, identifying problems in the home and how they affect the student's attendance, reporting students who have excessive unexcused absences for in-house suspension or in-house detention, conferring with parents and students regarding attendance problems, visiting parents at home and collaborating with them to evaluate if the student should stay in school or attend an alternative program, making recommendations to the site administrator or arranging for professional services, developing and participating in existing school activities for the benefit of the students having attendance problems or adjusting to a new school, recognizing situations that indicate potential for increased communication and understanding between students, parents, and school personnel, reviewing attendance records to identify students with excessive absences, investigating causes of absences and conferring with students, collaborating with students and parents to determine programs suitable for students, serving as a resource to the Child Study Team(s), facilitating the re-entry of students into school, making recommendations to the administrative staff regarding the enrollment/withdrawal of a student(s) from school, assisting in identifying high-risk students enrolled or entering high school, assisting with Success Academy and other student retention programs, coordinating all attendance work between home and school and all staff, assisting the school's registrar and school administration to enforce district policies for student attendance, communicating with parents regarding the importance of school attendance for academic success and the school's label, keeping administration informed of progress on attendance issues and retention issues, collaborating with teachers and administration on ways to improve student attendance, and other duties to support programs as assigned by the administration.Mental tasks include communicating, performing functions from written and oral instructions, and evaluating written materials. Physical tasks involve sitting for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, holding, and grasping objects. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions. Assistance is available in the event heavy physical exertion is required. Work may involve occasional lifting and carrying weights up to 25 pounds. Moderate walking, stooping, bending, reaching and sitting for extended periods may be required as a normal part of the job.Equipment, aids, tools, materials include office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers. Working conditions are indoors in an office environment with contact with students, employees, parents, and public. Supervisor is the Principal. Funding is Maintenance & Operations.
