Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary Provides care for obstetrical and infant patients through education/consultation. Functions as a resource for patients, families, staff, and community. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Assesses the physical, educational and discharge needs of obstetrical, newborn, or breastfeeding patients. Based on patient assessments and trends, identifies opportunities to improve the care of mothers, infants and children in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Develops and revises evidence-based nursing policy, procedures, standards of care, protocols, and preprinted orders. Provides evidence-based nursing care for mothers and infants through consultation directly with the patient or the telephone helpline. Collaborates with other health care professionals to identify cost effective alternatives and facilitate discharges. Serves as a resource/educator/consultant for patient/families/staff and the community. Evaluates and recommends new products, tools, etc. using best practice models, evidence-based materials and research. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive. Minimum Requirements Education: Associate's degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: Two (2) years L&D, Mom/Baby, lactation or related nursing experience. Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working. IBCLC required within 18 months. Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) preferred.
