We are in search of a skilled, board-certified Breast Surgeon to take on the role of Medical Director of Breast Surgery . The Medical Director will be responsible for providing clinical, operational, and strategic guidance while actively engaging in breast surgery practice. Collaborating closely with hospital leadership, oncology services, radiology, pathology, genetics, plastic surgery, and multidisciplinary care teams, the Medical Director will work to promote program growth, improve quality outcomes, enhance access to care, and enrich the patient experience throughout the breast care continuum.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations and surgical management for patients with benign and malignant breast conditions
• Perform a variety of breast surgical procedures, including breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, and sentinel lymph node procedures
• Work closely with multidisciplinary oncology teams to create personalized treatment plans
• Engage in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case discussions
• Coordinate care throughout the breast cancer journey from diagnosis to survivorship
• Support quality initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices within the breast program
• Participate in patient education and shared decision-making processes
• Maintain high standards in clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and outcomes
• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers and clinical staff

Leadership Responsibilities as Medical Director

• Provide strategic and clinical direction for the Breast Surgery program
• Collaborate with health system leadership to set and achieve program goals and growth strategies
• Advance quality improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes, safety, and evidence-based care
• Support activities related to physician recruitment, retention, onboarding, and engagement
• Develop and enhance multidisciplinary breast care pathways and coordination processes
• Partner with oncology, radiology, pathology, and other specialty leaders to optimize patient access and experience
• Assist with accreditation efforts, quality reporting, and program development initiatives
• Lead initiatives to expand community outreach, education, and breast health awareness programs
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and patient-centered care
• Represent breast surgery services in organizational leadership meetings, committees, and strategic planning efforts

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical institution
• Board Certified in General Surgery
• Completed Fellowship Training in Breast Surgery
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia
• Preferred minimum of five years of clinical experience in breast surgery
• Prior experience in physician leadership roles such as Medical Director, Division Chief, or Program Director is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to multidisciplinary cancer care and quality improvement
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building abilities
• Proven capacity to collaborate effectively with physicians, administrators, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Dedication to providing compassionate, patient-centered breast care

Compensation Range: $250,000.00 - $552,240.00

In addition to base compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage (subject to eligibility), along with wellness and retirement benefits designed to support our employees and their families.

The compensation for this position—whether presented as an annual salary or hourly rate—is determined based on various legitimate, non-discriminatory factors. The compensation range provided is a good-faith estimate of the minimum and maximum hourly rate or annual salary for this role and assumes a 1.0 FTE status. Actual compensation will be determined based on specialty, education, training, skills, experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications. This range may be adjusted in the future based on business needs or market changes. No part of the compensation is considered earned until it is vested and determined according to applicable policies and benefit plans. The availability and amount of any bonuses, incentives, or other benefits are subject to the terms of those plans and may be modified at the sole discretion of our organization, in accordance with applicable law.
