Zero Balance Claims Specialist

We are currently seeking a Zero Balance Claims Specialist. The Zero Balance Claims Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all patient accounts and insurance claims are accurately processed and resolved to a zero balance. This role focuses on claim follow-up, denial management, payment reconciliation, account resolution, and coordination with insurance carriers, patients, and internal departments to maximize reimbursement and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review and analyze accounts receivable to identify outstanding balances and claim discrepancies. Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid, underpaid, denied, or delayed claims. Research claim denials and implement corrective actions to facilitate payment. Process claim appeals and submit supporting documentation as needed. Verify insurance payments, contractual adjustments, and patient responsibility amounts. Reconcile accounts to ensure balances are resolved accurately and timely. Maintain detailed documentation of account activity, communications, and resolutions. Collaborate with billing, coding, and patient access teams to resolve claim issues. Identify trends in claim denials and recommend process improvements. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and organizational policies. Meet productivity, quality, and collection performance standards established by management. Assist with special projects and reporting as assigned. Experience Minimum of 3+ years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, claims follow-up, or revenue cycle management. Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payers preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requires advanced knowledge of hospital billing, insurance claims processing, and reimbursement methodologies. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding principles. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Excel is required. Prior experience with Cerner/Citrix is a PLUS!
