Grant Writer/Manager

The Grant Writer/Manager is responsible for researching and analyzing grant opportunities and making recommendations on their feasibility. They are responsible for the preparation of grant/program applications including writing, budgeting and contract management in collaboration with appropriate facility staff and other partners. The Grant Writer represents the facility in the community acting as a liaison with funders and collaborating agencies. The Grant Writer/Manager supports the mission of the facility by providing grant writing, research, data collection and related reporting for existing and new programs to ensure program evaluation and sustainability. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Researches and identifies mission-aligned grant funding opportunities to develop new and sustain existing programs. Monitors professional journals, follows digital media, and attends relevant workshops and conferences to stay abreast of best practices in program fields for development purposes.
• Develops and writes large, high-quality federal, state, local and foundation grant applications and renewals; guides the timely submission of grant proposals ensuring adherence to application guidelines, working with programs, IT and the Finance department
• Prepares and presents ad hoc reports on grant office statistics and other requested topics to the CEO, COO, Leadership Team and District Board of Directors
• Maintains records electronically and in paper files if necessary, including final submission packets, grant tracking and reporting documentation.
• Maintains and implements funding calendar activities
• Maintains confidential information in a sensitive and appropriate manner and fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Special projects as assigned in support of organizational objectives

Qualifications:

Associates or Bachelor’s in social services, Public Administration, Public Health or related field. Minimum of 2 years of non-profit grant writing experience is desired. Demonstrated success in obtaining grant driven funding and proven ability to research grant prospects for proposal writing is essential. The successful applicant will be able to work independently and manage grant calendar and deadlines; have experience with Microsoft Office and in researching and writing grants for health and wellness projects, rural community focus, low income and disadvantage populations, and related types of focus areas. Must be able to write clearly and concisely; read and interpret data using basic statistical principles; perform budgeting and mathematical functions and analyses. Experience with HRSA and SAMSHA grants, and grants management is highly preferred. Experience with economic development types of grants or funding programs is also desired.

The facility is a CAH licensed at 25 beds but currently has 16 beds. On-site we have acute and swing bed skilled care, as well as a 24/7 emergency room with two trauma bays. They have applied for Level IV trauma status. They have a rural health clinic at the main campus and two satellite clinics in smaller communities. The facility provides surgical services, Laboratory, Radiology and Rehabilitation Services. The hospital includes efficiency apartments that are available for on-call staff to stay in if they live out of town at no cost to the employee. Total employee group is approximately 170 with 123 Full Time Equivalents. Their small but have a great group of employees who care about one another! This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This is a brand new position for the facility so opportunity to grow it as you like. The facility has no remote positions but maybe a possibility to work 1 or 2 days from home. The hospital offers a salary range between $46K-$66K depending on experience and with potential for additional pay for a percentage of grant dollars they successfully write for up to 10%.
