Position Overview

WinnMed is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a full-time 13-week contract opportunity in Decorah, Iowa.

The ideal candidate will possess strong surgical technologist experience across multiple surgical specialties and demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room environment while supporting surgeons and clinical teams during procedures.

Candidates must be comfortable participating in on-call rotations and maintaining a response time within 30 minutes of the facility while on-call.

Schedule Information

Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Additional Schedule Details:

• Hours may fluctuate slightly depending on surgical case volume
• Some shifts may begin as early as 6:00 AM

On-Call Requirements:

• Approximately 1 night every 2-week pay period
• Every 5th to 6th weekend rotation
• Holiday call rotation included

Candidates must remain within 30 minutes of WinnMed while on-call.

Compensation Package

Pay Rate: $56/hour

Overtime Rate: $84/hour

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Weekly Gross: $2,016

Overtime Starts After: 40 Hours

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification required
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training required
• Minimum recent Surgical Technologist experience required
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures
• Sterilize and organize surgical instruments and equipment
• Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
• Maintain sterile field throughout surgical procedures
• Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs during operations
• Ensure patient safety and infection control compliance
• Assist with surgical room turnover and preparation
• Participate in on-call coverage and emergency procedures as required
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff
