Job Summary This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients. Required Experience and Education Education: Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program by a governmental authority, nursing board, or licensing authority that has jurisdiction over approval/accreditation of nursing programs (Texas BON 217.1). Language: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Experience: 1 year of RN experience. Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care. Licenses and Certifications: Current NLC NURSING LICENSURE COMPACT – BNE current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license BLS BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree BSN. Licenses and Certifications: Professional Certification in a Nursing Organization. Job Duties Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, taking into account age‑specific criteria (children, adolescents, adults and older adults). Anticipates patients and/or patient family needs and expectations and utilizes these in conjunction with the assessment to develop an appropriate plan of care. Utilizes critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care. Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment, completing accurate and timely documentation. Actively coordinates the interdisciplinary plan of care and collaborates with all members of the health care team. Appropriately prioritizes nursing interventions, promptly identifying changes in condition as evidenced by assessment, labs, x‑rays, etc., reporting changes and taking follow‑up action as appropriate. Evaluates interventions and modifies care according to the evaluation, documenting interventions and modifications to the plan of care accurately and timely. Adheres to appropriate hospital and/or Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice, incorporating ANA standards, professional practice model (Shared Governance) and care delivery model (Relationship Based Care). Provides appropriate and timely answers and education to patients, patient families, significant others and/or caregivers. Documents all education provided, including discharge plan of care. Welcomes and orients patient, family, and/or caregiver to the unit, encouraging participation in care by reviewing personalized patient plan of care each shift and updating white boards as needed. Advocates for resources and support that enhance patient safety and unit/hospital initiatives, participating in data evaluation to guide decisions regarding unit/department budgeting. Performs peer evaluation to provide constructive feedback to peers regarding performance, holding co‑workers accountable for behavior and compliance with policies and standards, actively intervening when patient safety is at risk. Acts in performance improvement initiatives for patient care and quality/safety (e.g., patient safety, patient satisfaction, core measures, infection control). Shares professional and technical information with colleagues and students, offering self as a resource (e.g., preceptor, charge, mentor, unit expert). Performs other duties as assigned.
