Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports reliable and efficient operations by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within a large packaging and distribution facility. This role works with computers, robots, and CMMS software to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, resolve equipment issues quickly, and assist production teams to minimize downtime.
Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and perform general maintenance on equipment within the assigned area to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Complete all assigned preventive maintenance tasks on schedule and in accordance with established procedures.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
• Respond to machine breakdowns promptly and repair equipment in a timely manner to reduce production downtime.
• Assist and support production teams with equipment-related needs, providing training and guidance as required.
• Utilize CMMS software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and maintain accurate equipment records.
• Work with computers and robotic systems as part of equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Apply knowledge of 480V electrical systems when performing maintenance and repairs, following all safety protocols.
• Use basic Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word, to record maintenance data, generate reports, and communicate information.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to improve equipment reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow all facility safety policies and procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
• Support a clean and organized work area to promote safety, efficiency, and equipment accessibility.

Essential Skills

• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Hands-on experience performing maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment in a production or distribution environment.
• Ability to work with computers and robotic systems as part of maintenance and operations activities.
• Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to manage maintenance tasks and records.
• Knowledge and practical experience working with 480V electrical systems.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment, with the ability to perform limited troubleshooting (no programming required).
• Proficiency with basic Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word, for documentation and communication.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical degree or trade education (such as TCAT or similar trades program) is preferred.
• Previous robotics experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Experience using Maintenance Connections or similar maintenance management software is an advantage.
• Experience in packaging, distribution, or similar high-volume industrial environments is beneficial.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively support production and collaborate with colleagues.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively during a fixed shift.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to established procedures and guidelines.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large packaging and distribution facility that typically employs around 600 people and ramps up to approximately 1000 employees during peak season from October through December. The facility is expansive and not temperature controlled, so it can become hot during the summer months. The position follows a fixed Monday through Friday schedule from 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM, providing a stable evening shift. You will work around high-volume production and distribution operations, using industrial equipment, computers, CMMS software, and robotic systems in a busy, fast-paced environment where safety procedures and appropriate work attire are important.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Vergne, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
