Mental Health CounselorPennsauken Public Schools is an urban/suburban Pre-K to 12th grade school district of approximately 5,000 students located in Camden County, New Jersey.Responsibilities:Enhances the relationships with administration and staff members by communicating effectively, facilitating teamwork that supports the Grant objective and goalsMonitors and reviews the productivity and provides recommendations to improve the quality and quantity of the district's mental health supports and training opportunities.Develops rapport with individuals, groups and communities to improve the well-being of studentsEncourages students to discuss emotions and experiencesExamines issues including substance abuse, self-regulation, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, relationships, social skills, self-image stress and suicideWorks with families and hosts parent training nights in collaborations with the Project Director as indicated in the requirement of the grant application proceduresAssists student define goals, plan actions and gain insightDevelops therapeutic processesConducts evidenced-based evaluation processes to determine students who are at risk of social, emotional and behavioral difficultiesTakes a holistic (mind and body) approach to the well-being of studentsQualifications:Certified New Jersey School Counselor. Appropriate New Jersey State Certification REQUIREDMaster's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work preferredBackground in Nurtured Heart Approach, Restorative Practices and/or experience working with students in traumaMinimum 2 years of experience preferred MUST pass NJ Criminal History Review Unit fingerprinting requirementNew Jersey State residency requirements for public employees in effectTerms: Salary, terms and conditions as per PEA contract Applications are accepted on-line only.
