Budget Appliances specializes in new, open-box, and scratch-and-dent appliances at competitive prices. We do not sell used appliances. Our inventory includes refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, microwaves, and other major household appliances.

We are looking for a dependable, professional, and sales-driven Retail Sales Associate who can provide excellent customer service while helping maintain an organized and successful showroom.

Position Overview

The Retail Sales Associate is one of the primary faces of Budget Appliances. This position assists customers with appliance purchases in the showroom, over the phone, and through online sales platforms.

The ideal candidate is friendly, confident, organized, comfortable with technology, and motivated to close sales while providing honest, helpful recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and professionally.
• Ask questions to understand each customer’s appliance needs, measurements, budget, and preferred features.
• Recommend suitable appliances based on customer requirements.
• Explain product features, cosmetic conditions, pricing, warranties, protection plans, delivery, installation, and financing options.
• Clearly communicate that customers are responsible for confirming appliance measurements, hookups, fitment, and installation requirements.
• Process transactions through the point-of-sale system, including cash, credit card, financing, and online orders.
• Answer incoming calls, text messages, social media inquiries, and online customer questions.
• Follow up with prospective customers and online leads.
• Schedule or coordinate appliance delivery, pickup, and installation services.
• Work with management, delivery staff, and technicians to ensure sold appliances are tested, prepared, labeled, and ready for customers.
• Take clear product photos and videos for online listings.
• Create and update listings on Facebook Marketplace, Shopify, OfferUp, Craigslist, and other approved platforms.
• Confirm that online prices, model numbers, descriptions, and product availability are accurate.
• Place pricing labels and inventory tags on appliances.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional showroom displays.
• Assist with receiving and arranging new inventory.
• Track daily sales, deposits, customer inquiries, and completed transactions.
• Report inventory discrepancies, damaged products, customer complaints, or operational issues to management.
• Upsell delivery, installation, accessories, protection plans, and other available services.
• Follow all company sales policies, return and exchange policies, cash-handling procedures, and safety requirements.

Daily Duties

• Open or close the store as scheduled.
• Count, open, balance, and close the cash drawer.
• Assist walk-in customers and respond to online inquiries.
• Post new inventory online with accurate photos, prices, model numbers, and descriptions.
• Update or remove listings when products are sold.
• Contact customers regarding product availability, pickup, delivery, or installation scheduling.
• Tag and organize newly received appliances.
• Dust, clean, and organize appliances and showroom areas.
• Keep counters, customer areas, and sales workstations clean.
• Confirm sold appliances are properly marked and removed from active listings.
• Assist with light warehouse and inventory duties when needed.
• Help move appliances using a dolly, appliance cart, or other appropriate equipment.

Qualifications

• At least one year of retail sales or customer service experience is preferred.
• Appliance, furniture, electronics, automotive, or commissioned-sales experience is a plus.
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Comfortable speaking with customers in person, by phone, through text, and through online platforms.
• Basic computer, smartphone, internet, and point-of-sale skills.
• Ability to take quality product photos and write accurate online descriptions.
• Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to handle customer concerns professionally.
• Sales-focused attitude with the ability to recommend additional products and services.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is strongly preferred but not required.
• Previous cash-handling experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform light showroom or warehouse duties.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
• Ability to safely use a dolly or appliance cart after training.
• Employees are not expected to move heavy appliances without assistance or proper equipment.

Schedule Requirements

• Full-time and part-time positions are available.
• Flexible availability is preferred.
• Applicants should be available to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.

Compensation and Benefits

• $11.00–$16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
