How You Will Make An Impact

The staff accountant plays a key role in supporting accurate and timely financial reporting for the plant operations. This position works closely with the controller and cross-functional operational leaders to complete month-end close activities, prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and provide reporting that supports departmental decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow their accounting skill set while contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on capturing memories, inspiring students, and celebrating achievement.

What You Will Do

• Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
• Prepare and record monthly journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts; research and resolve variances.
• Run monthly departmental expense reports and provide supporting detail to managers and supervisors.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
• Operational Accounting Support
• Generate and distribute the weekly departmental labor tracker.
• Conduct the annual obsolete inventory review and assist with raw material price testing.
• Provide cash application support during high-volume peak seasons related to customer receipts.

Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to perform complex journal entries that require independent problem solving and analysis data.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Public accounting background preferred
• At least 1-2+ years of relevant finance and/or accounting experience preferred
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
