CNC Set Up Operator

This role requires hands-on, real CNC setup experience. The ideal candidate can read complex drawings, select tooling and fixturing, establish offsets, and run first articles with precision. You will be a key contributor to maintaining quality, reducing downtime, and making continuous improvement on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machines (milling, turning, and/or other CNC equipment) for production runs, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, work coordinates, and zero references.
• Load and verify CNC programs; run first article parts, inspect, and adjust offsets/software as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and setup documentation to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Perform tool changes, offsets, zeroing, and calibration; monitor tool wear and manage tool life.
• Conduct quick debugging and troubleshooting of programs and setups; collaborate with Programmers and QA to resolve issues.
• Execute efficient changeovers to minimize downtime; maintain clean, organized workstations and tooling racks.
• Record setup data, operational deviations, scrap, and first-article results; update standard work instructions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and company procedures.
• Mentor and/or train junior operators on proper setup practices and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of prior true CNC setup experience (not just button pushing). Demonstrated hands‑on experience configuring machines for production.
