CustodianThe Custodian is the all purpose, do it all of the building. Custodians must be motivated, self-sufficient, and reliable, being able to quickly adapt to ever changing scenarios and requests while providing quality service to all in the building.Minimum Experience and Education:High school diploma or equivalency preferredThree years' experience in performance of all types of custodial work.Skill Requirements/Qualifications/Knowledge:Ability to communicate with staff at various levels and to follow verbal and written instructions is required.Must be capable of performing assigned tasks in a timely fashion with a minimum of supervision.Must be able to lift over fifty pounds/ lift heavy furniture, climb a ladder up to 14' tall.Must be safety conscious and have a good work ethicEssential Job Functions:Washrooms:All washrooms men and women in assigned area must be cleaned daily/ remove graffiti and gum on floorDry and wet mop all floors.All sinks, urinals, toilets must be cleaned and sanitized daily. Fill all soap, toilet, and towel dispensers daily.Check and clean vents and walls in bathrooms. Change all light bulbs as needed.Report any repairs that are needed in assigned section to your supervisor or lead man.Classrooms:All classrooms must be vacuumed (or swept and spot mopped), garbage dumped, clean boards and ledges, remove graffiti, change lights, remove gum and stains from floors daily.Empty all recycle bins when full in designated recycling containers.Clean all windows as necessary, usually twice a week.All desks cleaned and straightened daily.Change liners daily.Report any damaged shades/ ceiling tiles or any repairs to a supervisor.Clean all vents.Offices:All offices must be cleaned daily, garbage dumped, remove graffiti, change light bulbs as needed, and remove gum and stains from floors.Empty recycling bin when full in designated recycling containers.Clean windows and dust all vents as necessary (usually weekly).Wipe office areas weekly (desks, shelves, table tops)Hallways/Stairwells:All hallways in assigned area must be swept daily and mopped, dump garbage.Water fountains cleaned daily and floors buffed weekly. Clean vents in hallways.Stairwells swept and mopped daily, wipe down doors and clean door glass as necessary (usually twice a week).Additional Duties:In addition, custodians may be asked to assist other custodians in any areas, i.e. Gym wing, pool, grounds area, Auditorium and theater areas due to an absence of a co-worker. They may be asked to assist in set ups and perform any other work as assigned by Lead Man or his designee.Custodians will be responsible for the cleanliness of their storage closet. It must be stocked with custodial supplies only; other materials will be discarded.Term of Employment: 12 MonthWork Environment:The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires walking and standing.
