About the Position

Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active RN license required Certifications: Current BLS certification required Must-Have: Candidates must have cardiology experience with open hearts, heart failure, post-catheterization lab patients, and valve patients. Description: This position involves working in a Progressive Care Unit, which consists of 52 beds for PCU patients, 6 beds for Intermediate Care, and 14 beds for CVICU. The unit is staffed by roughly 80 Registered Nurses and 40 Patient Care Technicians. Patient care ratios are 1:5 for RNs, with Patient Care Technicians assigned to a range of 7-15 patients. The team focuses on collaboration and supports each other in delivering high-quality care. Candidates should be willing to assist other staff members and adhere to unit policies and procedures. A strong emphasis is placed on patient safety, including fall and skin risk management. CNCs round once per shift to verify all fall precautions are in place. The unit performs cardioversions and radiologist-guided thoracentesis procedures. Candidates will work with a variety of equipment, including EKG and vital sign machines, computer systems, and glucometers. The unit serves specific patient populations and does not admit neuro patients, anyone under 18, or mother/baby needs. Candidates are expected to wear navy blue scrubs and are encouraged to follow the dress code strictly. The unit is recognized as being in the top 5% of patient experience units.
