Hotel Controller

We are looking for a driven Hotel Controller to provide strategic financial leadership for La Valencia Hotel. The right candidate will guide financial performance, support property leaders in delivering consistent results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Oversee core financial functions across the entire Hotel. Process Month-end close and Year-end close. Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements and analyses. Ensure State and City tax compliance. Partner with General Manager and Executive Committees to identify cost controls. Guide properties in annual operating plans, budgeting, and forecasting. Oversee Accounts payable and Accounts Receivable. Monitor and enhance internal controls and inventory management. Process Manual checks including expense reports and final checks Ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner. Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll. Enter and audit proper GL and financial journal entries. Manage accounting team. Additional responsibility may be assigned by manager as needed. SKILLS: Advanced knowledge Microsoft Suite, including Excel. Conducting and completing Audits. Balancing budget sheets. Creating and managing Hotel Budgets at the department level. Knowledge understanding financial statements. Knowledge of Transient Occupant Tax (TOT) Attention to detail and clear communication. Able to translate complex accounting topics for non-accounting team members. Experience with Opera, M3 Accounting, InfoGenesis, Hotel Effectiveness, iBuy, and B4T a plus. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. At least 5 years of finance leadership in a hospitality environment. Ability to read and write in English. Spanish speaking is a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit/work at a computer for up to 8 hours a day Ability to walk up and down stairs Ability to lift up to 50 pounds COMPENSATION: $120,000 – $135,000 annually - Depending on experience Equal Opportunity Employer The above statements are intended to be a general description of the position.
