Under general supervision of the RN Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse relates effectively with other health providers and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments; participates in all phases of education, patient and advocacy, maintenance of records and upgrading of policies, procedures and skills of personnel. Assists the RN Clinic Coordinator and other providers in the development and maintenance of standards consistent with the level of care set within the scope of the Nursing Practices Act and maintains standards consistent with the level of care set by Title 22.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:

• Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing and directing the nursing functions of patients of the organization.
• Maintain acceptable standards of patient care.
• Creates a working climate that provides teamwork, compassion and customer service.
• Accurately and promptly implements physician's orders and follow-up of abnormal lab tests. ? Maintains the standards of accurate and complete documentation, understanding of pediatric immunization schedule, and reporting in necessary logs including POC logs, VFC logs, and communicating excursions or variances to RNCC.
• Participates in planning changes and improvements.
• Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
• Communicates needed supplies and competency with equipment on hand and maintains standards of cleanliness and organization within the Medical Clinic area.
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel when necessary.
• Nursing Triage of clinic patients, screening and treatments per NVIH Triage Protocols.
• Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.
• Maintain cost effectiveness of programs, recommending improvements to provide better utilization of personnel and resources.
• Attends all trainings, meetings and conferences as required, including continuing education in order to provide the highest quality of care to the patient population and to maintain a current and active license.
• Assist providers with follow-up of all abnormal test results.
• Meet deadlines for duties and assigned projects in a timely, efficient manner.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement monitoring and activities.
• Review newborn records from discharging hospital, determine appropriateness of newborn on the RN Schedule. Schedule or reschedule with provider as necessary. Enter pertinent information into the newborn chart.
• Head to toe assessment of the newborn, calculate weight loss percentage and adjust care plan accordingly. Evaluate jaundice risk factors and TCB if indicated. Consult with provider if serum bilirubin is needed based on AAP guidelines.
• Provide newborn teaching according to current AAP guidelines.
• Assist mother/parent with basic lactation or feeding support and education.
• Implement appropriate patient teaching that is directed toward preventing illness and maintaining health in cooperation with providers and the Medical Director.
• Contributes to the attainment of the goals of the organization by promoting working relationships within the organization and contacts with individuals and agencies in the community in an effort to contribute to better public understanding of health services.
• Identify victims of child and adult abuse, assault and domestic violence and provide intervention, make referrals as necessary and report to appropriate agency.
• Assists in the collection of statistics, follow-up and case management of children needing immunization, patients requiring intervention for medical treatment.
• Travel to other locations for training, coverage, or other business needs as directed and per NVIH procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferably with an Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree.
• Current licensure by the California State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a RN; at least one (1) year of ambulatory outpatient service preferred.
• Demonstrate competency with use of technology and application of apps.
• Demonstrate a combination of maturity, judgment, experience and confidence to practice independently in a variety of challenging situations; to seek and use supervision and consultation.
• Ability to work productively with individuals and with professional and other groups within the community.
• Skill to efficiently plan and execute work and to exercise good judgment.
• Communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy with individuals and groups both orally and in writing.
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Demonstrate awareness, sensitivity and appreciation of Indian culture, traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs.
• Ability to learn and adapt display concern and initiative, and be resourceful and calm in emergencies.
• Reliable transportation to engage in regular attendance and travel between sites as necessary.
