General Summary of Position

This position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities within our healthcare settings, adhering to established policies and procedures. Under the guidance of a physician, the role includes patient intake, following standing orders or protocols, performing venipuncture, conducting laboratory tests, and ensuring patient follow-up. Additionally, the role entails administering oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal medications as directed by a provider, following competency validation by the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or their delegate. Clinical Care Specialists (CCSs) who are certified Radiologic Technologists will also be responsible for performing and transmitting X-ray diagnostic images. Proper documentation in the medical record is essential to support efficient patient flow.
- Assist in achieving departmental goals and objectives while adhering to policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with governmental and accreditation requirements.
- Follow the organization’s Code of Conduct and Compliance plan; complete all required training, including but not limited to safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance, harassment, and service.
- Clean, stock, and sterilize equipment, as well as prepare patient rooms for care delivery.
- Provide patient care in accordance with policies, prioritizing patient and employee safety and quality of care.
- Adopt new technologies and utilize the electronic health record effectively.
- Manage patient flow through consistent communication with patients and their families, demonstrating genuine concern for their time and comfort.
- Conduct various tests and provide care within the scope of practice, including spirometry/PFTs, vital signs, BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under medical supervision.
- Make follow-up calls to patients regarding lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results in a professional manner.
- Perform venipuncture and selected laboratory tests (point of care); initiate care pathways as per policy.
- Conduct X-rays as per medical provider orders, forwarding images to the appropriate radiologist for review, while maintaining equipment and adhering to safety standards.
- Foster a respectful environment for patients, families, vendors, colleagues, and employers, maintaining professionalism in all communications.
- Deliver care that aligns with our mission, vision, and values, aiming to exceed patient expectations and build confidence and loyalty.
- Act as a patient escort throughout the care process and assist with patient discharge, ensuring clarity for patients and their family members.
- Support new clinical and service initiatives, actively seeking opportunities to enhance care and the patient experience.
- Assist team members during busy periods or delays in patient processing, demonstrating basic computer and patient intake skills at the front desk.
- Support medical providers in patient examinations, testing, and education.
- Under medical supervision, prepare and administer oral medications and injections (limited to intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular) after demonstrating competency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or their delegate.
- Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
- Associate’s degree required.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
- Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting required.
- 1-2 years of medical office experience preferred.
- One year of relevant professional experience may substitute for one year of required education.
- ARRT Certification required.
- Must possess a Maryland, Virginia, or DC State License for Certified Medical Radiation, as applicable to the position's location.
- CPR certification (including BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days required.
- Additional unit or specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
- Clinical competency verified during the initial 90-day orientation and annually thereafter.
- Outstanding customer service and patient interaction skills.
- Proficient in computer and Electronic Medical Record systems, adaptable to various clinical settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $29.73 - USD $53.49 per hour.
