Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer

Job Title

Qualifications: 2 year / Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology/ Sonography (Required). In lieu of an Associates Degree a Minimum of 4 years additional relevant experience is acceptable.

Work Experience: 4 - 5 years Cardiovascular Ultrasound (Required).

Licenses and Certifications: Required Certifications/Licensures: Basic Life Support (BLS), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Adult Echo or Pediatric Echo or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).

Essential Functions

Technology and Equipment Use:

• Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
• Understands equipment operation.
• Maintains equipment in working order.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems.
• Uses technology to increase productivity.
• Adapts to new technology.

Able to Perform Adult Echocardiography/ Vascular Ultrasound Exams:

• Perform required exams without supervision that meet quality standards of the lab and interpreting physicians.
• Act as a resource in area of expertise.
• Provide leadership and training opportunities to department through department stand ups and on the job training.
• Adult Echo/ Pediatric Echo/ Adult Vascular Exams.
• TEE Echocardiography.
• Assist OR with ultrasound guided procedures.
• Perform Pediatric Echocardiography as required.

Additional Duties:

• Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
• Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values mission and vision of the organization.
• Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e. self education attends ongoing educational programs).
• Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
• Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age sex weight and demonstrated needs.
• For non-clinical areas has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
• Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
