We have an opportunity for a skilled maintenance planner/lead to join our local team. Company Information Owens Corning Roofing Division – Composites: Fort Smith Plant. OC Fort Smith began operations in 1985 and will start a new facility/line in 2025 with an expanded site. The plant now has two buildings/lines and has doubled its workforce in three years. SCHEDULE Fort Smith crews work a 12‑hour shift on a 2‑week rotation with a 3‑day weekend every other week. Week 1 – 36 hours: Monday, Thursday, Friday Crews also rotate between day and night shifts every 28 days, allowing teams to plan personal activities on off days. SUMMARY The Shift Leader embodies the 100% Leader concept, balancing challenge with connection to engage team members in exceeding safety, quality, productivity, and financial expectations. The Shift Leader is a key leader in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) with a focus on Autonomous Maintenance (AM), responsible for shift safety, training, production coordination, operational procedures, and continuous improvement (CI). The Shift Leader supervises all production team members on the shift and is accountable for plant personnel outside normal hours. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Build Safety Culture Through Leadership: Drives expectations, facilitates safety training, ensures safe and environmentally compliant work areas, and promptly corrects risks and hazards. Lead and Develop Talent: Engages teams to own business success, drives continuous improvement through TPM, builds effective work teams, partners with stakeholders for training, and enforces plant and corporate policies. Manage Production: Manages staffing to meet operational targets, anticipates and resolves issues, eliminates top losses using loss‑tree methodology, leverages manufacturing systems for improvement, and champions TPM culture with training and events (5S, FI). Lead Autonomous Maintenance Coordinator (AMC) Processes: Performs AMC functions while leading the shift, drives CI and focused improvement within AM teams, and facilitates AM events across the plant. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 3–5 years of manufacturing leadership experience or a bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of manufacturing leadership experience. Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Proven track record of driving results through employee engagement and problem‑solving. Demonstrated success in team‑building and individual development. Leadership abilities that deliver results. Six Sigma Green Belt and/or continuous‑improvement experience. Experience with computer programs and Microsoft Office products. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Autonomous leadership, technical acumen, bias for action, and problem‑solving. Inspires, engages, and connects with others; excels in team building and collaboration. Competitive drive for results, commitment to learning, and strong communication across all levels. Customer‑oriented, conflict‑management, strategic and analytical thinking, and reliability in follow‑through. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Proper PPE use; exposure to hot/cold temperatures and noise periodically. Hand/eye coordination; walk, sit, stand for shift duration with breaks. Lift/carry/move up to 25 lb independently and heavier weights with assistance. Climb stairs, steps, and ladders; operate computers and equipment. Effective communication with coworkers via face‑to‑face, telephone, and electronic media. Manual dexterity and adequate vision for equipment controls and documentation.
