Description

American Traveler is hiring a GI/Endoscopy RN for a day-shift outpatient role requiring an active VA or compact RN license and prior GI nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a GI Lab, including Preop and Phase 2 recovery areas, in a predominantly outpatient setting
• Care for both outpatient and some inpatient GI patients
• Patient ratios are 1:1 in preop and 1:3 in Phase 2 recovery
• Common procedures include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and EUS
• Diagnoses include screening exams, therapeutic ERCPs, diagnostic/therapeutic EUS, and inpatient GI bleeds or abdominal pain
• EMR system used is Epic
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with no weekends
• No on-call requirements for this unit

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• 2 years of GI nursing experience preferred
• IV insertion skills required, telemetry experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include preop assessments, vital signs, and IV insertion, as well as Phase 2 recovery monitoring, Aldrete scoring, discharge instruction review, and IV removal
• Scrubs are provided
• A two-day ad-hoc Epic training class is required for most travelers unless recently worked at the facility within the past 6 months
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 through March 31) unless an approved exemption is on file
• Facility is smoke and nicotine free
• Floating may be required in rotation with regular staff according to facility policy
• RTO requests should be minimal and must be submitted upfront, as approval is at manager discretion and holiday coverage is expected
• Previous staff members of the facility must wait one year before returning as a traveler
