Real Estate Paralegal

Job Summary

A growing legal services team in Columbia, SC is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal supporting residential real estate transactions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal, title, mortgage, or closing professional who enjoys managing transaction files, communicating with multiple parties, and helping clients move smoothly through the closing process.

Key Responsibilities

- Open, organize, and maintain purchase and seller transaction files from contract through closing.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, real estate agents, lenders, attorneys, and other parties throughout the closing process.
- Coordinate with lenders to obtain loan packages, closing instructions, funding approvals, payoff information, and required documentation.
- Prepare closing documents, settlement statements, disclosures, and transaction paperwork for attorney or management review.
- Review settlement figures, reconcile disbursement amounts, obtain final approvals, and support timely funding through checks and wire transfers.
- Maintain accurate, compliant files while managing multiple closings in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $40,000 to $50,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Work environment: Primarily office-based in Columbia, SC.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage residential real estate closing files from contract through post-closing documentation.
- Coordinate closing timelines, lender requirements, funding approvals, and client communications.
- Prepare and review closing documents, settlement statements, financial figures, and disbursement details.
- Support attorneys, clients, lenders, agents, and internal team members with accurate and timely transaction updates.
- Three to five years of experience in real estate closings, legal support, title, mortgage, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of residential real estate closing processes, transaction documentation, and settlement workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to review financial figures, settlement amounts, and disbursements accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively in a high-volume office environment.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience supporting residential real estate transactions in a law firm, title company, lender, or mortgage environment.
- Experience communicating directly with attorneys, lenders, real estate agents, buyers, and sellers throughout the closing process.
