Position Summary: The Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting all claims in a timely manner through all applicable billing systems. These systems include the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, PA state insurance website, and Allegheny County insurance website. The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring all claims are entered in a timely manner within these systems and communicating directly with the Billing Manager if any billing updates and/or issues arise.

Wage range: $18-$20/hour

Job specific assignments

• Responsible for electronic submission to all insurances in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) billing system.
• Responsible for manual entry of claims into the Allegheny County insurance website and verifying claims are correctly processed and collected.
• Responsible for claims submission for independent supports coordination billing through the PA state insurance website including verifying claims are correctly processed and collected, including resubmission of any denials.
• Meet weekly with Billing Manager to review any insurance submission updates.
• Assist the AR Specialist with reprocessing of denied claims as needed.
• Assist the Billing Manager with reprocessing claims that are on hold for billing violations.
• Pull monthly client statements to send to Front Office Coordinators for mailing as part of an on-going collection process.
• Assist with entering recurring payments via the credit card processing website.

General Assignments

• Record time and attendance via HRIS and Timekeeping system.
• Attend meetings/training as requested/required.
• Model the organization's mission and values.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

• Proficiency with MS Office, computer/laptop, tablet, and cell phone required.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and billing systems required.
• High school diploma/GED and two or more years of relevant experience in medical or health care setting
• Familiarity with insurance and CPT codes required.
• Valid driver's license
