About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Compact license must be in hand at submission Certifications: Required: BLS, NRP; Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: High-risk experience and ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. Experience with EPIC electronic fetal monitoring. Ability to function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum. Description: 8-week contract length. Night shift with rotations every other weekend and holidays as needed. Must be willing to float to sister facilities and other units as necessary. Working with midwifery clients, private OBs, and adult recovery services supporting substance recovery. The unit provides care for high-risk and high-volume labor and delivery with an average daily census of 15 patients and 500-600 deliveries per month. The facility has 31 rooms and beds. Daily responsibilities include circulating and providing newborn care, including eyes and thigh assessments and vitamin K injections. Nurses will support couples care and assist with high-risk deliveries. Special procedures involve the administration of medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate as well as participation in newborn assessments. Candidates must have experience with interventions related to labor and delivery as well as postpartum care, including triage of obstetric patients. Attendance at all scheduled shifts is required due to the nature of the unit's operations. Pre-approval for time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. References covering the required period within the last three years are necessary. Refusal to float to other units may result in a loss of guaranteed hours. Travelers may be expected to assist in various capacities outside of their primary role when necessary.
