As part of the   Fireman Hospitality Group , founded by acclaimed restaurateur   Shelly Fireman , we are proud to continue a tradition of warm hospitality, elevated service, and authentic Italian cuisine.
We are seeking a Sous Chef to join the leadership team at Café Fiorello DC
This role will support kitchen operations, help develop and mentor the team, and execute high-volume, high-quality Italian cuisine. As a cornerstone of our concept, a strong understanding of Italian culinary traditions, ingredients, and techniques is essential for success in this role.

 

What You’ll Do

• Partner with the Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency.

• Lead and mentor the culinary team, including line and prep cooks, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence.

• Support kitchen performance , including scheduling, inventory, ordering, labor efficiency, and food cost controls.

• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards while ensuring an organized and efficient kitchen.

• Execute Café Fiorello’s culinary standards, including our antipasto bar, house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and signature thin-crust pizzas.

What We’re Looking For

• 2–4 years of experience in high-volume, upscale kitchens; leadership experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and classic techniques, with a passion for high-quality ingredients and execution.

• Proven leadership ability, with experience managing kitchen teams in fast-paced environments.
