Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Case Manager/Senior Case Manager with strong applicant/claimant-side experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload and a solid understanding of California workers' compensation, particularly death claims and sworn/public safety cases involving police and fire personnel.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who is comfortable working independently, managing complex files, and supporting clients throughout the workers' compensation process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of up to 300 workers' compensation files efficiently and accurately.

• Handle and coordinate California workers' compensation death claims.

• Manage applicant/claimant-side workers' compensation cases from initial intake through resolution.

• Work extensively with sworn/public safety cases, including police and fire personnel.

• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation, deadlines, correspondence, and records.

• Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, medical providers, insurance representatives, and other parties involved in each claim.

• Monitor case progress and ensure appropriate follow-up on outstanding issues.

• Assist attorneys with case preparation and provide ongoing case management support.

• Prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and client service.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of substantial applicant/claimant-side workers' compensation experience.

• Demonstrated experience managing a large and active caseload.

• Working knowledge of CA "EAMS" electronic case management system, AND should be at least conversant with our internal case management system, "MERUS CASE."

• Experience handling California workers' compensation death claims.

• Experience with sworn/public safety workers' compensation cases, particularly police and fire personnel, strongly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of California workers' compensation procedures and case management.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

• Bilingual skills are not required.

Additional Requirements

• Must be a non-smoker.

• Must be able to maintain a reasonable commute, ideally 45 minutes or less, with up to approximately 60 minutes in traffic for the right candidate.

• Must have no criminal convictions, given the nature of the practice and close interaction with law enforcement personnel.
