$200k - $220kOutten & Golden
Counsel Outten & Golden LLP is seeking a Counsel admitted to practice in California to be based in our Oakland office. The Firm enjoys a strong national reputation for representing employees, independent contractors, executives and whistleblowers in all areas of employment law—from representing senior executives in contract negotiations, to protecting individuals’ civil rights in the workplace, to combating worker exploitation and systemic discrimination in class action and impact litigation and putting hundreds of millions of dollars in the hands of wronged individuals with historic SEC and IRS whistleblower awards. We take pride in our decision to represent employees as advocates for workplace fairness. More recently, the Firm has branched out into new cutting-edge consumer digital-discrimination litigation involving major social media platforms. We also place considerable focus on our own workplace, keeping our eye on employee morale and engagement as we grow and evolve. Our goal is to foster a workplace that embraces diversity in all of its complex and rich forms and incorporates the multi-layered factors that drive equity. We are committed to building relationships rooted in respect and trust to promote a sense of belonging for all of our employees. Responsibilities Counsel at the Firm represent clients in individual, class, and collective actions in all areas of employment law—including matters that may involve wage‑and‑hour issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, leaves of absence, or layoffs—and supervise/lead matters in a variety of contexts including federal and state courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC), as well as negotiations and client counseling. Qualifications Experience and Education: You have a minimum of 8 years of legal experience including a minimum of 4 years of practicing employment‑law experience. You have strong analytical, writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills. Must be admitted to the California bar. Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential Firm matters. Leadership, Initiative, and Teamwork: You have extensive experience with matter management and supervising/delegating to junior attorneys and staff. You approach challenges with a growth mindset. You possess the ability to work well within a team and establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and others. You are capable of prioritizing the business and professional interests of the Firm and have experience utilizing your network and resources to promote the needs of an organization. Mission Orientation: You are enthusiastic and passionate about our commitment to advocating for employee rights. You thrive when your work is connected to purpose. Compensation An attractive compensation package (tailored to experience), with a target base salary of $200,000-$220,000 per year (exempt). Counsel at the Firm are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses. Outten & Golden offers our employees a robust benefits package including healthcare benefits.
