Paramedic - Emergency Department

Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, an acute care facility with 177 patient rooms in Port St. Lucie, is seeking a Paramedic for its Emergency Department. This position works nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Responsibilities Provide immediate medical treatment to injured or ill patients on-site and/or during transport to the hospital. Maintain equipment. Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources. Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response. Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring. Perform fluid/drug administration as needed. Communicate with medical personnel at the hospital, report/record observations, and follow directives until report and hand‑off at the hospital if on the transport team. Navigate ambulance to the scene of an accident in response to an emergency call if on the transport team. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic Training Program. Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross ALS certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department. Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training program. Preferred Qualifications International Trauma Life Support (ITLS). Current Valid Driver’s License (VDL). One year of experience as an EMT or Paramedic. Physical Requirements Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye‑hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. Medium work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
