Job Title RN - ICU - Nights Job Summary The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities Plans, assesses, directs and provides quality patient care for assigned patients including modifying nursing care, managing medication administration, and facilitating discharge planning. Provides education directed toward individualized patient needs utilizing the nursing process in coordination with policies and procedures. Monitors changes in patient condition, records and reports symptoms, assesses vital signs, and intervenes when appropriate. Performs complete data collection from patient presenting complaints and pertinent history. Collaborates with patients to identify treatment‑plan goals and discharges patients as appropriate with a written discharge plan, encouraging family participation when suitable. Delivers nursing care including assessment and planning of education targeted to identified knowledge deficits, treatment, pain management, and discharge using the nursing process. Documents accurately in medical records and on forms, entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and other information according to standards, policy, and procedures. Delivers quality care using multidisciplinary team strategies, minimizing risk of infection, harm, or injury. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records and directs care with regard to age, developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history. Maintains a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors. Anticipates deteriorating life‑sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action. Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions. Collaborates with patient‑care team members on patient‑care plans, incorporating consistent use of hand‑off communication. Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable. Performs additional department‑specific functions as outlined in department procedures. Job description is not an all‑inclusive list of duties and may be subject to change with or without notice. Required Qualifications Nursing diploma from an accredited diploma program or associate or higher degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing. Current licensure by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners or proof of reciprocity of licensure between Texas and another state within 90 days. RN I: 6 months – 1.99 years of relevant experience. RN II: 2 – 4.99 years of relevant experience. RN III: 5 – 9.99 years of relevant experience. RN IV: 10+ years of relevant experience. Current JPS‑recognized Basic Life Support certification, maintained throughout employment. ACLS within 3 months of hire, EKG test passed within 90 days, and initial NIHSS within 90 days and maintained throughout employment. Completion of unit‑specific competency‑based orientation program within 90 days. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
