Support Services Technician

Job AnnouncementThis position performs a combination of mail processing, equipment operation, and delivery services in a team-oriented environment supporting Fairfax County Government. This position operates high-speed mailing equipment, prepares bulk mailings, processes interoffice and USPS mail, and provides scheduled delivery and pickup services to county facilities throughout the region. Serves as a key operational resource by supporting multiple delivery routes, transporting accountable and time-sensitive mail, and ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of critical communications. Success in this role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to safe, efficient operations. The essential functions of this position require the employee to work onsite at County facilities on a full-time basis. Note: The assigned functional area(s) for this position are: General administrative assistance and/or mail services.Employment StandardsMinimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and one year of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s). Certificates and Licenses Required: Valid driver's license Necessary Special Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer. Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing mail services, courier services, shipping and receiving, logistics, warehouse operations, print production, or related operational support work. Experience operating high-speed mail processing equipment (inserters, tabbers, postage systems, printers). Experience with USPS mailing standards and bulk mail preparation. Experience operating delivery vehicles and supporting multiple delivery routes. Experience using package tracking, inventory, or asset management systems. Experience working in a government, institutional, or large organizational mail services environment. Experience providing direct customer service while supporting internal or external customers. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift material and containers weighing up to 70 pounds. Work is generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment.
