Job Overview
Our organization is seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to become a part of our team at a prominent healthcare facility in the Baltimore-Washington area. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients experiencing speech-language and swallowing disorders, which may arise from neurological conditions or surgical interventions. You will create tailored therapy plans based on the severity of each case, identify the most effective treatment methods, and determine when therapy can be concluded.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough diagnostic assessments for patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders, including those affected by head and neck cancers.
- Set treatment objectives and design therapeutic programs. Assess whether patients can continue oral intake or require alternative nutritional support. Provide training in esophageal and tracheoesophageal voice techniques, as well as the use of prosthetic devices. Perform and analyze video fluorography and conduct evaluations for invasive tracheoesophageal punctures.
- Summarize evaluation results and prognostic information. Document progress notes and related information in medical records, and communicate with referral sources. Maintain necessary statistical data as per departmental requirements. Decide when therapy can be safely discontinued based on patient progress and performance, and arrange for any necessary follow-up care.
- Conduct hearing screenings as needed and complete all documentation for patient billing. Engage in interdepartmental rehabilitation team meetings, discharge rounds, and family discussions. Deliver speech-language in-service training to nursing staff, the Rehabilitation Department, and medical residents as assigned. Offer mentorship and serve as a resource for graduate students in clinical practicums.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in the field by reading relevant literature and attending seminars and conferences.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in a related role.
- Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the District of Columbia within 90 days of hire.
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of USD $65.00.
