Per-Diem Registered Nurse

Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Registered Nurse for the DASH (Diagnostic, Assessment, and Stabilization Hub) Crisis Center. The DASH Crisis Center is a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week outpatient crisis stabilization program that includes a 24-hour crisis hotline and mobile response team. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing health assessments, health education, diagnostic testing, and medication administration.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing nursing intervention, medical assessment and support to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
• Functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Acting as a team lead and maintaining inventory standards for meds.
• Ensuring the health and safety of staff and clients during emergencies.
• Health monitoring and education/counseling.
• Conducting urine toxicology screenings.
• Administering and monitoring oral medications and intramuscular injections.
• Completing all clinical documentation in an electronic medical record in accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.
• Maintaining infection control standards.
• Attending routine supervision/team meetings.
• Completing training and maintaining proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Understanding and demonstrating a commitment to Performance Quality (PQI).
• Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
• Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Fostering teamwork, working cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions.
• Assessing situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and making clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licensed and registered to practice nursing in the state of New York required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care, psychiatric setting, including experience with co-occurring disorders and/or chemical dependency required.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
• Ability to problem solve, make clear decisions, and work as part of a team required.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required; experience with an Electronic Health Records preferred.
• Physical requirements include sitting for long periods of time.
