Certified Medical Assistant | Brentwood Peds | Full-Time

Organization VIP Peds - Brentwood Job Summary Upon graduation from a medical assistant program, the Medical Assistant assists the provider in performing office examinations and procedures; organizes and manages clinic patient flow; gathers and documents patient screening data; performs in‑office diagnostic testing (e.g., X‑rays, EKGs); assists with patient and family education; cleans rooms and instruments; orders and distributes supplies; schedules appointments and testing; triages phone calls and emails; handles physician correspondence; and manages insurance referrals. The position requires a highly organized individual capable of safely managing more than one task at a time, moving swiftly among varied responsibilities, and working as part of a team. The Medical Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Provider/Office Manager. Key Responsibilities Customer Service: Use current technology to pull patients expeditiously from waiting rooms to exam areas; proactively communicate delays to patients; regulate patient flow and check‑in as per protocol; assist and cover the front desk and phones as needed; demonstrate professional behavior in all settings visible to patients and visitors; proactively identify patient/visitor needs and take steps to assist. Planning and Managing Care: Gather screening and other data for the health care team; demonstrate individual and team accountability by meeting basic patient/family needs—accompany patients/families to exam rooms, prepare patients for examination, perform diagnostic testing; work with MD/provider to maintain efficient, effective clinic flow; assist in patient call‑backs and call‑in prescriptions under physician direction; assist MD/provider with routine office procedures; pull patient charts for labs, X‑ray reports, consultation letters and other clinical information; assess reason for visit while documenting height, weight, temperature, and vital signs; fulfill clerical responsibilities—maintain patient charts and other care documents; prepare diagnostic testing requisitions; send/receive and accurately route referral and pre‑certification information; schedule appointments. Patient/Family Education: Distribute patient family education material as directed by clinical staff; facilitate identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs. Continuous Learning: Participate in staff meetings; develop and achieve personal and professional goals; contribute to the achievement of VIP goals; participate in quality improvement through data collection and documentation. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the health care team; coordinate patient care as directed by the MD/provider; use EHR effectively; demonstrate positive personal behavior; receive feedback in a respectful and positive manner. Triage: Triage patient/family calls; respond to phone/email patient messages; respond to patient questions/concerns/problems; refer to immediate supervisor, clinic staff or provider. Attendance: Regular and reliable attendance required. Other duties as assigned. Fostering Innovation: Generate new ideas; apply technology; adapt to change. Position Qualifications Experience Level: 1 year. Education: Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
