POSITION OVERVIEW The overall responsibilities of the Security Guard include greeting and screening clients seeking services and maintaining the premises secured at all times. Responsible for the safety and security of clients, staff, and visitors. Is alert and aware of all activities within designated areas around post or on patrol. Carries out all instructions of the supervisor and/or policies and directives issued by the Manager of Security Services Upstate. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment as assigned. Assist visitors entering any facility and ascertain that they are following the rules and regulations. Touring buildings to guard against fire, theft or destruction and to protect clients, visitors and employees against violators. Notify the Albany Police Department when necessary. Observe for signs of crime or disorder, investigate and make proper notifications. Notify Supervisor of any incident and report in detail in a timely manner. Rendering aid to accident victims and arranging medical attention as necessary. Notify the security supervisor when leaving post of duty for personal necessity (which will not exceed 15 minutes) or meal period as assigned. Keeping informed of changes in rules and regulations. Monitor CCTV. Patrol regularly the perimeter of post assigned. Always be visible and vigilant. Maintain order. Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication. Crisis de‑escalation and principles of behavior management. Report and/or correct safety and security violations encountered during patrols/checks. Take proactive measures to mitigate thefts, disturbances, and other criminal incidents on facility property. Check to ensure that visitors and staff members are wearing proper identification badges/passes. Perform productive security patrols/checks of the facility, and perimeter. Recognize conditions which are or will compromise the security of the organization and take immediate actions to mitigate. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Security Manager. REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED preferred. Two (2) years’ experience preferred. Familiarity with the immediate community and ability to spot and deal with security problems. Ability to read and write to make log entries; to follow written work schedules and to write incident reports as necessary. Ability to write legible reports, use a portable radio, and use judgment that is sound and proper when addressing emergencies. Be able to write and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and visitors. Writing legibility and clearly. Basic computer literacy. Ability to maintain good work and personal habits. General knowledge of organization, community and/or social service resources and programs. Bilingual – Spanish speaking a plus. Show Courtesy Professionalism and Respect. Be always fit for duty, except when on sick report. Always maintain a good appearance. Be punctual when reporting for duty. Must have a valid/maintain NYS Security License.
